Emails

One rule: email failure must never fail money. Receipts are best-effort; the webhook grants the license first, emails second.

Setup

No SDK — plain fetch to the Resend REST API (shared/lib/email.ts). Works on edge and node, no key means silently skip (dev-safe).

Receipt email

sendReceiptEmail(event, fulfillment) sends the buyer their tier, order ID, charged amount, and license key. It:

• skips duplicates (webhook redelivery),
• skips when there’s no buyer email,
• returns false instead of throwing when Resend fails.

Templates

Five Astro templates in shared/email/: welcome, password reset, invoice, notification, trial ending. Render to HTML, send via sendMail({ to, subject, html }).

Auth emails

shared/lib/auth.ts keeps its own tested inline senders (verification, reset) — don’t churn them into the shared mailer without a reason.
